Undefeated Women's Soccer Team Hits Road For Pair Of SCAC Matches

Kerrville, Texas- The undefeated Centenary women's soccer team will face Schreiner and Trinity this weekend in a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road matches. beginning with a match on Friday versus Schreiner at Mountaineer Field.

The Ladies (9-0, 1-0 SCAC) and Mountaineers (4-6-2, 0-1 SCAC) will square off in a match set for 2 p.m. before facing Trinity on Sunday in San Antonio. Centenary opened SCAC play last Friday with a thrilling 1-0 overtime win over the Johnson and Wales Wildcats at home as the Maroon and White continued their best start in program history and remain tied atop the conference standings.

Centenary is one of only five remaining undefeated teams in Division III in the country and is ranked number 10 in the West Region in the latest edition of the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 NCAA Division III Poll. The Ladies were receiving votes in the previous week's United Soccer Coaches poll, are the only undefeated team remaining in the region and the only undefeated team overall in the SCAC.

Freshman midfielder Celeste Muinz (Denton, Texas) scored the game winner and notched her first-career goal in the 104 minute of the match on Friday. Freshman goalkeeper Karlie Delhommer (St. Amant, La.) pitched a shutout and made five saves and was named the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Delhommer played all 104 minutes of Friday's overtime match and earned her ninth victory of the season and posted her third shutout. In her nine starts this season she has allowed one goal or less in seven of nine games and she ranks third in the SCAC in shutouts and goals against average.

The Ladies improved to 2-0 in overtime contests this season and 5-0 in matches decided by one goal. Centenary has a 24-8 advantage in goals scored this season against its competition and has allowed one goal or less in seven of its nine matches.

Centenary ranks first in three offensive categories: points (68), goals (24), assists (20), and is second in shots (174), goals per game, and assists per game. Senior Migui Boldrin, a native of Brazil, leads the SCAC in shots, shots per game, points (27), points per game, goals (9), and goals per game. Freshman forward Sydney Bascomb (Mesquite, Texas) ranks second in the SCAC in assists with five.

Senior Kyra Montes (Shreveport) will be back in action this weekend after she represented the country of Nicaragua in its last two matches as part of the Central American Qualifying Stage of the 2020 Concacaf Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship, helping the the team go 1-1.

Montes has played in just four games this season for the Ladies but has scored five goals and had three assists. She was a first team all-conference selection a year ago after leading the SCAC with 14 goals. Montes owns 22 goals in her career to go along with 10 assists and has 11 game-winning goals. She holds the program records for goals in a single season (14 last season), career goals (22) and career points (54). Montes ranks fifth in the league in points and tied for fifth in goals. Montes and Boldrin are tied for lead with game-winning goals.
