Women's Soccer Falls For First Time This Season, 4-0, At Trinity

San Antonio, Texas – The Centenary women's team lost for the first time this season after winning its first 10 games as the Ladies fell to Trinity, 4-0, on Sunday in a road Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match.

The Ladies (10-1, 2-1 SCAC) are still off to the best start in program history and have eclipsed last season's win total (9) and have won the most games in a season since going 10-8-1 in 2011. Centenary is currently tied for second place in the conference standings with Southwestern, just behind Trinity and the University of Dallas, who are tied for first at 3-0 in SCAC play.

The Tigers (9-2, 3-0 SCAC) led the Ladies 1-0 at the half on Sunday and then put the game away with three second-half goals. Trinity took 16 shots in the match to just four for the Ladies, and held a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks and scored off two of those opportunities.

Trinity's Camryn Beall opened the scoring with a goal in the seventh minute of the first half. Nyah Shepherd's goal put the Tigers ahead 2-0 early in the second half and then a few minutes later Kaity Ward scored for a 3-0 lead. Trinity added a late goal in the 76th minute for a 4-0 lead as Kristen Coniglione found the net.

Centenary used both of its goalies, freshman Karlie Delhommer (St. Amant. La.) and junior Maggie Pitcher (San Antonio, Texas) for the second game in a row, as Delhommer started and played the first 67 minutes, recording three saves. Pitcher relieved her for the final 23 minutes and allowed one goal and made one save.

The Ladies are back home on Friday, Oct. 18 as they welcome St. Thomas to Mayo Field for a SCAC match set for 5 p.m. The Maroon and White then face Louisiana College in a non-conference match on Monday, Oct. 21 at 5 p.m. #GoCentenary #CTheOpportunity
