Women's Soccer Blanks Austin College In SCAC Play On Sunday

Sherman, Texas – The Centenary women's soccer team blanked the Austin College 'Roos by a score of 4-0 on Sunday in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at the Pierce Complex.

The Ladies (14-1, 5-1 SCAC) won their fourth-straight match and went 2-0 on their weekend road swing in Texas after defeating the University of Dallas, 3-2, on Friday. Centenary star senior midfielder Migui Boldrin (Ribeiaro, Brazil) scored a pair of goals on Sunday, her 15th and 16th of the season which leads the SCAC. She gave the Maroon and White a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute on Sunday and then just 90 seconds later, freshman Ariel Muller (Groves, Texas) scored her third goal of the season to make it 2-0.

The Ladies held that 2-0 advantage at the half which included a 17-1 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes. Centenary took 27 shots to just three for Austin College for the match and held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Centenary added a pair of goals in the second half as Boldrin struck in the 58th minute on a free kick and Kyra Montes (Shreveport) scored the fourth and final goal for the Ladies at the 64:06 mark. The goal was her ninth this season.

Boldrin and Montes continued their stellar play this weekend and furthered their status as the most productive and dynamic duo in the conference. The two seniors combined for four goals and five assists in the two road wins and have now contributed 25 goals, 16 assists, and 67 points this season.

Entering Sunday's match, the two were tied for first in the league in goals per game and Montes ranked first in points per game and assists per game, and second in assists and points. She was tied for third in goals and the two were tied for first with four game-winning goals each. Boldrin leads the SCAC in shots, shots per game, points, and goals, and is second in points per game.

Centenary returns home next weekend to wrap up its regular season as it is aims for a potential conference regular season title as the Ladies face Texas Lutheran on Friday at 5 p.m. at Mayo Field and then Southwestern at Noon on Sunday. The six Ladies seniors will be honored on Friday in a pregame "Senior Day" ceremony. #GoCentenary #CTheOpportunity
