Gabby McDonald Named SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Shreveport – Centenary's Gabby McDonald was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for games played through Sunday, October 27th.

McDonald, a sophomore defender/midfielder from Pasadena, Texas, earned the honor for the first time in her young career. She was a lock down defender this past week for the Ladies as she helped lead her team to three victories including a pair of road conference wins last weekend over the University of Dallas and Austin College.

McDonald also scored the game-winning goal on Friday in a thrilling 3-2 win at Dallas in the 73rd minute to break a tie and give the Maroon and White the key SCAC victory. She now has two goals and an assist in 14 games (12 starts) this season for the Ladies and became the second Centenary player this season on the defensive side of the ball to earn this honor as previously goalkeeper Karlie Delhommer (St. Amant, La.) was the week six honoree.

The Ladies (14-1, 5-1 SCAC) wrap up the regular season this weekend at home as they aim for a potential conference regular season title as the Maroon and White face Texas Lutheran on Friday at 5 p.m. at Mayo Field and then Southwestern at Noon on Sunday. The six Ladies seniors will be honored on Friday in a pregame "Senior Day" ceremony. #GoCentenary #CTheOpportunity
