Ladies Tennis Celebrates Two Seniors Friday afternoon against Southwestern

SHREVEPORT, La. – Two Ladies Tennis seniors will celebrate senior day for the Ladies and Gents final home tennis match of the year against Southwestern Friday afternoon, April 12.

Grace Doucet has played for Ladies tennis each of the last three years after spending her freshman season as a softball player.

"As team captain, Grace is a natural leader and a very supportive teammate," said head coach Matt Coomer. "She sets a great example for the younger players both on and off the court."

Playing at first singles most of the season, she holds a 1-9 record in singles play. However, she was pivotal in helping Ladies Tennis pick up their first win in four seasons, winning a pair of sets 6-0 against the Wildcats March 23.

Doucet has also appeared at first doubles with freshman teammate Alyssa Davis, holding a 3-7 record. She also has a win at second doubles with fellow senior Shyann Pisano.

A biology and chemistry major, Doucet plans to go to medical school at Ross University in Barbados upon graduation. She is very involved on campus, serving as President of Tri-Beta and both President and Vice President of the Chemistry Club. She also served an RA and LRA for Residence Life, an Honor Court Justice, an Alpha Epsilon Delta inductee, a Student Government Association Senator for two years, a member of Maroon Jacket and the Order of Omega, a participant in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Social Chair for Chi Omega.

With tennis, Doucet also served as a Team Captain.

Her favorite memory is when she teamed up with Davis for a big 8-7 win at first doubles against Millsaps February 23. The entire team was rallying behind her and Davis, and it will be a memory she has for the rest of her life. "This team has been very special to me and will probably be, hands-down, the best, most supportive team I have ever played with. I will miss them dearly," said Doucet.

The other Ladies Tennis senior playing in her final home matches will be Shyann Pisano.

After a stellar four-year career with Ladies Volleyball for four seasons, she has appeared in every match for tennis. She holds a 2-7 record at doubles, picking up a pair of wins against Louisiana College.

"I am very grateful to have had Shyann join us this season," explained Coomer. "She always has a great attitude and comes to practice every day ready to learn and work hard. She has contributed so much to the growth of our program."

A biology and Neuroscience major, she has appeared on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Scholars List and the Centenary Dean's List following fall of 2016 and 2018. She also made the Dean's List in the spring of 2017. Following graduation, she plans to attend medical or PA school.

Pisano is very involved on campus. She is a member of Chi Omega, serving as a Panhellenic Delegate and winning the Panhellenic Spirit award, Order of Omega President, an inductee into the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Heath Honor Society, the Centenary Maroon Jackets, and the Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society.

Her favorite memory was getting her first doubles win with classmate Grace Doucet. "I also loved getting to know a bunch of new people. They are the best teammates I have ever had and have made this an incredible experience for me in such a short amount of time," said Pisano.

As a member of Ladies Volleyball, Pisano finished her senior season with 45 aces, the ninth-most for a single-season in program history.
