KERRVILLE, Texas – After two close first sets, the Ladies closed out the match with a big run to end set three as Centenary (5-7, 1-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) picked up its first conference road win in two seasons by downing Schreiner (1-11, 0-4 SCAC) 25-21, 28-26, 25-14 Saturday morning, September 15.

Centenary took the first two sets and with the third tied at 13, a big service run by senior Shyann Pisano all but finished the match. A kill from freshman Elizabeth Epley brought Pisano to the service line. A Mountaineers attack error and two service aces opened up a four-point lead. A freshman Rachel Demerjian kill, a Schreiner error, a senior Hailey Lawson kill, and Pisano's third ace of the rally pushed the lead to eight. An Epley kill ended the run.

Both teams sided out, and two Schreiner hitting errors gave Centenary the set 25-14 and the match.

Epley finished the match with 13 kills to lead Centenary, while senior Michaela Brantley went 7-for-19 on attacks with no hitting errors in the middle. Demerjian registered a match high of 14 assists per set, finishing with 42 assists.

In the back row, juniors Kristian Loving and Marissa Sandoval both added 18 digs.

In the second set, Schreiner threatened to tie the match and even had a set point at 25-24. With the Ladies up 20-17, the home team scored five straight. Scott led Schreiner with seven kills, while Alexis Coronado added the double-double with 13 assists and 11 digs.

Down 23-22, Brantley and freshman Alyssa Davis tallied kills to put the Ladies on set point. After both teams sided out, Schreiner earned its own set point with kills from Scott and Amanda Combs. A service and a hitting error gave Centenary another set point, and an Epley kill put the Ladies up a pair of sets.

Centenary led 22-21 in set one when a freshman Lauren Kelley kill, a senior Shannon Orlopp ace, and a Schreiner hitting error ended the first set.

Centenary won all three sets on its own serve.
