Men's Tennis Opens Regular Season At ITA Southwest Regional

Georgetown, Texas - The Centenary men's tennis team opened its regular season on Thursday at the ITA Southwest Regional Tournament with doubles action.

The Gents opened up their season in the four-day event hosted by fellow Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference member Southwestern University. The duo of juniors Nathan Lim (Shreveport, La.) and Corey Nobles (Beaumont, Texas) fell to Adrian Munguia and Esteban Arredono of Concordia (Texas) in the A draw doubles first round match, 8-5.

"Even though it was in a losing effort, these two (Lim and Nobles) played at a very high level against a talented Concordia team," said Centenary head coach Matt Coomer. "After going down an early break of serve, both players responded with quality aggressive doubles play and came close to breaking back several times. I was happy with this doubles team's willingness to fight all the way until the end, and their ability to make good adjustments as the match progressed.

Senior Max Wamsley (Vicksburg, Miss.) and freshman Colin Dixon (Keller, Texas) lost to the Hendrix duo of Aubrey French/Micah Moore in the "C" draw doubles match, 8-1.

Singles matches will be held all day Friday with all five Gents in action for the Maroon and White.
