Track & Field Completes Season Opener On Saturday

Clinton, Miss. - The Centenary men's and women's track and field teams complete their first meet of the season on Saturday in the Mississippi College Spring Cleaning Meet at James E. Parkman Track.

The men's foursome of freshman Lydell Hunter (New Orleans. La.), junior Xavier Venious (Bossier City, La.), freshman Randy Levert (New Orleans, La.), and freshman Joshua Ware (Shreveport, La.) ran the 14th-fastest time (43.75) so far this season in division III in the 4x 100 relay.

Senior Kevin Brown (New Orleans, La.) earned a14th-place finish in the javelin (40.35m). Junior Madison Schonberg (Harbor City, Calif.) earned a pair of 16th-place finishes in the discus (25.49m) and shot put (8.44m).

Saturday was the first of six regular-season meets for the Maroon and White leading up to the annual Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships set for April 22-23 in Georgetown, Texas.

The Mississippi College Spring Cleaning Meet field included two division I programs – Alcorn State and Jackson State, seven division III schools, eight division III schools including Centenary, four NAIA schools, one NJCAA school, and one NCCAA program.
