Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: October 7 Edition
WHAT’S UP LADIES FANS!!
It’s senior Sophie Schmitz here to give you a breakdown of the ladies trip down to the bayou! We spent this past weekend strengthening our team relationships, appreciating mother nature, and most importantly watching out for those gators.
First off, let’s talk about Friday’s adventure. Between the delicious spaghetti and meatballs, the most creative pumpkin carvings you’ve ever seen, the beautiful lakeside views, and of course smore’s. It was the perfect way to start our team retreat weekend. While the ladies specialize in gymnastics, I think they have a real calling for pumpkin carving because…WOW.
Next up, all aboard the Centenary bus for our most favorite lake house adventure for the 3rd year in a row! First order of business was to swap our usual workout gear for lifejackets and swimsuits because it was time to go relax with the gators. The house comes with a handful of kayaks and paddle boards that the ladies took advantage of to explore the lake and the nature surrounding us.
After a bit of paddling and some playful banter, we finally dropped the fear of being eaten by a gator and enjoyed soaking up the sun and admiring the peaceful silence on the water. No rescue missions were necessary, and the ladies made it back to shore safe and sound. Eventually, it was time to clean up and get ready for another delicious dinner. Tonight’s menu consisted of salad, chili, and of course, cornbread. After filling our stomachs and clearing our minds we cozied up on the couch to share some funny stories, proud moments, and advice to get to know each other better. A special thanks to Coach Meg for giving us an intermission from activities to admire the sunset because it was definitely not to be missed. It lit up the sky with warm hints of orange reflecting off the still water of the lake. It made for the perfect background for a team picture and any other silly pictures we wanted to take.
Our last order of business was activity central. The ladies got their creative juices flowing again because it was time for friendship bracelets, letters to our future selves, skits, and painting. I said it before and I’ll say it again, gymnastics is not the only talent these ladies have…WOW, WOW, and WOW. We shared greats laughs, enlightenment, and comfort with our bonding time and have created memories to last a lifetime.
So, here’s to enjoying every moment, embracing the unknown, and even planning another retreat at the bayou next year! Thanks for tuning in to our weekend adventure! Geaux Lads!
