2023 Sophomore Season: Named Honorable-Mention All-SCAC as one of the conference’s top pitchers …  Finished 5-5 with a 3.86 ERA as he made 11 appearances (all starts) and allowed just 55 hits in 67.2 innings while allowing 35 runs (29 earned) with 23 walks and 72 strikeouts … Held batters to a .213 average (second in league) and finished fourth in the conference in strikeouts and IP and tied for fourth in games started, tied for seventh in wins, and 10^th in ERA … Threw two complete games (tied for second on team) and finished with a WHIP of 1.15 … Allowed only two home runs all season … Lasted at least five innings in all 11 of his starts and threw a season-high 7.1 in a win over Texas Lutheran on March 18 and tossed at least seven innings four times … Struck out seven or more batters six times and five or more 10 times … Tossed a complete game one-hitter with just one walk and a career-high 10 strikeouts in the Diamond Gents’ season-opening win 11-1 win over Ozarks (Ark.) as he allowed a two-out single in the third inning and that was all as he yielded just one unearned run as he recorded his third-career complete game … Went the distance in Centenary’s resounding 11-0 run-rule victory in seven innings over the nationally-ranked LaGrange College Panthers on March 10 as he allowed just four hits and a walk with seven strikeouts … He faced 26 batters and threw 88 pitches (56) for strikes in his seven innings of work for his third-career complete game.

2022 Freshman Season: Herrera recorded one of the finest seasons in program history as he became the first player to be named an All-American since 2017 … Named SCAC Freshman of the Year and SCAC Pitcher of the Year as he became just the seventh player in program history and only player in the division III era (2012-present) to win both the conference Freshman of the Year and Pitcher of the Year awards in the same season … Named to the D3baseball.com All-America Team, earning a spot on the Second Team … Named both Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year on the 2022 D3baseball.com West All-Region Team … Named to the 2022 D3baseball.com West All-Region Team, and the 2022 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region Team … His 1.59 ERA tied Taylor Henry for the lowest ERA in a season by any Centenary pitcher in the D3 era … He also became just the second Centenary pitcher (Henry - 2015) to be named D3baseball.com All-Region Pitcher of the Year and first to be named Rookie of the Year … Recorded a 7-1 record and finished in the top 10 in the country in ERA … He made 16 appearances and nine starts and in 73.2 innings pitched allowed just 13 earned runs and 61 hits with 25 walks and 59 strikeouts and tossed two complete games … Herrera whose ERA was under 1.00 for most of the season, was a two-time SCAC Pitcher of the Week recipient, and was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Rookie of the Week on March 31 … First-Team All-SCAC selection … Named to the 2022 Louisiana Sports Writers All-Louisiana College Baseball Team as an Honorable-Mention selection … He went at least six innings in seven of his nine final starts of the season … He finished with a 7.21 K/9 ratio and allowed only two home runs all season … Pitched 7.0 IP or more four times and went a season-high 8.1 innings in a 2-1 win over Texas Lutheran on May 6 in the 2022 SCAC Tournament in Cleburne, Texas … Made first collegiate start on March 19 at TLU and went six strong innings, allowing just one unearned run and four hits with a pair of walks and five K’s … Allowed five hits or less in a start five times and allowed two walks or less in seven starts … Herrera turned in a dynamite performance at home against Trinity on March 25 as he blanked the Tigers on just three hits in his eight innings of work with nine strikeouts and just one walk. He threw 81 pitches, 49 for strikes, and faced 27 batters as he, at the time, lowered his ERA to a staggering 0.69.
