LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2014 Spring Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll with 55 student-athletes from Centenary College receiving conference accolades.
Women's soccer led the 11 winter-spring sports represented on the list with 15 honorees. Men's swimming placed nine on the list with seven coming from women's tennis.
"Once again the Centenary student-athletes performed great in the classroom as evidenced by the numbers that achieved the distinction of being recognized by the SCAC," said Director of Athletics and Wellness Ronda Seagraves. "We are proud of the accomplishments of our student-athletes and look forward to continued success. Our student-athletes continue to achieve high marks academically that are comparative to the standards set by the entire student body. Way to go Ladies and Gents."
A total of 606 student-athletes from across the conference were named to the list. Since its inception in 1997, just over 21,000 male and female student-athletes have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom.
Last semester Centenary placed 34 student-athletes on the SCAC Fall Honor Roll. For the academic year, 89 student-athletes represented Centenary.
To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.
