Garland, Texas – The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams completed day two of the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday as the Ladies are currently in fifth place and the Gents are seventh at the Garland ISD Natatorium.
The Ladies earned 60 points on Thursday while the Gents earned 31. Trinity remains the leader on both the men's (352) and women's (352) side after day two. The Ladies were fourth after Wednesday's action with 78 points while the Gents were seventh with 48.
Colorado College is currently second on the men's side (295) and third in the women's standings (229) while the Southwestern women are second (260) and the men are third (230). The Austin College women are currently fourth (146), followed by the Ladies, and then Ozarks (102) is sixth and McMurry (5) is seventh. Ozarks is currently fourth on the women's side (126), McMurry is fifth (106), and Austin College sixth (97) ahead of the gents.
The Gents' team of senior Mitchell Lulich (New Orleans, La.), senior Tripp Montgomery (New Iberia, La.), Freshman Cash Coats (Andrews, Texas), and sophomore Antonio Barbee (Plaquemine, La.) placed seventh in the championship final of the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:31.84. Trinity won with a time of 1:21.44, Southwestern placed second (1:23.22) and Colorado College was third, swimming a time of 1:24.50.
Lulich had the Gents' best individual finish of the day as he finished 12th in the consolation final of the men's 200 Yard IM, swimming a time of 2:01.11. Barbee placed 15th in the consolation final of the men's 500 yard free, swimming a time of 5:04.71.
Friday's action begins at 10:30 a.m. with prelims and finals at 6 p.m. Saturday's action begins at 10:30 a.m. and is followed by the finals at 5:45 p.m. Centenary finished fourth on both the men's and women's side at last season's championships held in San Antonio, Texas.
