Kirkendoll Named to D3Hoops.com Team of Week for Second Time in Career

SHREVEPORT, La. - Senior Travion Kirkendoll received D3Hoops.com Team of the Week honors for the second time in his career on Tuesday, December 5.

Kirkendoll helped the Gents finish 3-0 on the week, including a 91-69 win against in-state rival Louisiana College November 27, a 111-109 (2OT) win against Johnson and Wales December 1, and an 86-69 victory against Hendrix December 3.

"Travion is just a sensational player," said Gents basketball head coach Chris Dorsey. "He's contributed to our success in every aspect of the game and is truly the backbone of this team. Kirkendoll is a great leader, and the rest of the team really feeds off his energy and leadership.

"I'm very happy that he earned a spot on the D3Hoops.com national Team of the Week. What a great accomplishment and it was very well deserved," added Dorsey.

Kirkendoll was also named to the Team of the Week on February 13, 2017.

Kirkendoll reached the 30-point plateau in both games to begin the month of December, matching a career high with 37 points in the double overtime thriller against the Wildcats. In the game, Kirkendoll hit 14-of-20 (70 percent) from the field and added seven assists, four rebounds, and a pair of steals. He also made the game-tying three at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime.

In the win against the Warriors to cap the week, he scored 32 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out five assists, and recorded five steals.

While Kirkendoll only scored six points to begin the week against Louisiana College, he added five assists (with no turnovers), five steals, and four rebounds in the win.

So far this season, Kirkendoll leads the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and sits 10th in the nation with 25.7 points per game. He also leads the SCAC and is 16th in the nation with 3.14 steals per game.
