Men's Soccer Falls 2-0 at Southwestern on Saturday

Georgetown, Texas - The Centenary men's soccer team fell by a score of 2-0 to the Southwestern Pirates on Saturday afternoon in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at Varsity Field.

The Gents (2-4-1, 2-3 SCAC) were shutout for the third-straight match after winning two in a row at home. Southwestern improved to 3-0-2 overall and 3-0-2 in SCAC play with the win.

The Pirates took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by forward Jackson DeHaven in the 11th minute of the first half. The game remained that way until the Pirates added a late goal as Mofe Ariyo scored in the 76th minute off an assists from teammate Ashton Bynum for the final 2-0 margin.

Gents' junior goalkeeper Sami Borchalli (Lafayette, La.) played all 90 minutes and made two saves, giving him 26 saves this season. Pirates' GK Jack Viles played the entire match as well and played a spotless game. The teams combined for only nine total shots and 10 corner kicks, as the Gents took seven but could not cash in.

Centenary returns home to the friendly confines of Mayo Field and faces Schreiner on Saturday, April 10 for Senior Day in its home finale where the Maroon and White are an impressive 9-4-1 in their last 14 home matches over the last two seasons. The Gents then finish the regular season at Texas Lutheran on April 17. Centenary then will serve as host for the 2021 SCAC Men's Soccer Championship on April 23 and 25 at Mayo Field.
