Gents Seventh After Day Two At SCAC Championships

Garland, Texas – Sophomore Madeline Vacula (Belton, Texas) highlighted Thursday's action for the Centenary swimming teams as she finished fifth in the championship final of the 500-yard Freestyle on day two of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the Garland ISD Natatorium.

Vacula swam a season and career-best time of 5:14.27 and also teamed with senior Bryn Jenkins (Houston, Texas), senior Christine Goodman (Alexandria, La.), senior Katie Malicoat (Wichita, Kan.) to place seventh in the championship final of the 200 Free relay in a time of 1:47.59.

The Ladies and Gents are each seventh after two days of competition with 97 and 42 points respectively.

Friday's schedule begins with prelims at 10:30 a.m. for the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, and 100 back. Following a 20-minute break, the 400 Medley Relay will occur followed by men's and women's diving competitions. A special recognition of all the senior student-athletes is set for 5:45 p.m. on Friday followed by evening finals. Saturday's action begins at 10:30 a.m. and is followed by the finals at 6 p.m.
