Ladies Softball Announces 2018 Schedule

SHREVEPORT, La. - Six games against teams who made the 2017 NCAA Tournament and 15 home contests help make up the 2018 Centenary softball schedule for third-year head coach Mark Suire, announced Monday, December 11.

"This year's schedule combines the excitement of traditional rivalries with an upgraded level of competition," said Coach Suire. "I believe that this tough non-conference schedule will both challenge our team and prepare us for the rigors of SCAC play."

The Ladies close out the season April 20-21 with four games at defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Champion Texas Lutheran. The Ladies will also play a single road (February 10) and home game (March 27) against 2017 Super Regional participant East Texas Baptist for competition against last year's NCAA Tournament participants.

After a doubleheader at Pelican State-rival Louisiana College February 13, the Ladies take part in the Hendrix College Spring Fling Tournament with Greenville, Westminster, and the host Hendrix Warriors. Centenary closes out the month of February with single games against Grambling State and LeTourneau in Longview, Texas, followed by a trip to Montgomery, Alabama, for a doubleheader against Huntingdon College.

The Ladies begin March with a doubleheader at Grambling State on the sixth before hosting Trinity for a quartet of games for the 2018 home and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener the 10th-11th. The Ladies swept the Tigers in San Antonio last season.

Following a weekend against Southwestern in Georgetown, Texas, the Ladies play Schreiner in a four-game series (March 23-24), followed by their single home game against East Texas Baptist.

Centenary closes out March on the road at Austin College March 30-31.

The Maroon and White play their final six home games to begin April. Following a non-conference doubleheader with Hendrix on the ninth, Dallas comes to Shreveport for senior weekend the 14th-15th. After the regular season final series at Texas Lutheran, if they finish in the top six in the SCAC, the Ladies will take part in the 2018 SCAC Tournament at Southwestern.

In 2017 the Ladies turned in their best SCAC Regular Season finish in school history, finishing in a tie for third with a 12-12 conference record.
