Mackenzie Cox Named SCAC Hitter of the Week

MACKENZIE COX OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior outfielder from Alexandria, La., has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 24 through Sunday, March 31. SCAC Softball Release - Week 8

Cox was red-hot last week for the Ladies as she went 6-for-13 (.462) with a .500 OBP and slugged .846 in four games as she led Centenary to an undefeated week in conference play. Cox had six RBI, scored five runs, stole four bases, and walked twice. Cox ripped an inside-the-park home run, the first HR of her career, on Saturday against Schreiner and had a triple against Dallas on March 26. Cox had three multi-hit games as she helped lead the Ladies to a win against Dallas on Tuesday and a weekend sweep over Schreiner. Cox is currently second in the nation with 31 stolen bases and tied for eighth in the country with 29 runs scored.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore infielder Riley Glenn-Millhouse of Southwestern led the Pirates to a key SCAC series win over St. Thomas last week. Glenn-Millhouse batted .500 at the plate, going 4-for-8 with two RBI, a double and a run scored. Sophomore catcher Chloe Bennett of St. Thomas continued her strong season at the plate, batting .600 in the Celts series against Southwestern. Bennett went 6-for-10 with a pair of doubles, two RBI, two runs scored and four stolen bases. Sophomore utility player Annie Kay of Texas Lutheran continued her hot bat last week, hitting a scorching .818 (9-for-11) over four games, including two 3-for-3 outings. Kay is now second in the SCAC in batting average and OBP and after eight stolen bases this week, fifth in the SCAC in stolen bases. First year utility player Hannah Boudreaux of Trinity led the Tiger softball team to a three-game SCAC weekend sweep on the road against Dallas. Boudreaux held a .500 (5-for-10) batting average for the week, scoring once and adding four RBI in the series. She opened the weekend with two hits and three RBI, then finished with Saturday's 3-for-4 performance in a 7-3 win to clinch the series sweep.
