Shreveport- The Centenary softball team will finish the regular season at home this weekend as the Ladies will face the Trinity University Tigers in a three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series beginning on Saturday with a doubleheader set for Noon and 2 p.m. at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The Ladies (13-22, 8-10 SCAC) and Tigers (26-11, 14-4 SCAC) will finish the series on Sunday with a single game at Noon. Centenary will honor its 2024 senior class – IF Mackenzie Clark (Upland, Calif.), RF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.), and 1B Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.) following Sunday's game.

Centenary, 9-6 at home this season, aims to snap a season-long seven-game losing streak this weekend as the Ladies have been swept the last two weekends in conference play – April 12-23 at nationally-ranked Texas Lutheran and last weekend at the University of St. Thomas. Trinity salvaged the third and final game of its series last weekend against TLU and is 5-3 on the road this season.

The Ladies are currently in fifth place in the conference standings and have clinched a berth in next weekend's SCAC Tournament, a double-elimination event, held in Seguin, Texas and hosted by TLU. The top six teams in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the tournament. Trinity is in third place and Southwestern University is fourth, just ahead of the Ladies, and Austin College is sixth.

The Ladies are hitting .302 as a team with a .366 on-base percentage and are slugging .374. They have scored 161 runs, average 4.6 runs per game and have a team ERA of 4.39. Centenary has collected 286 hits, 54 for extra bases, with 354 total bases which includes 78 walks and 16 HBP. The Ladies have 15 sacrifice flies and have stolen 66 bases. Centenary is ranked in the top five in the conference in batting average, hits, runs scored, RBI, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. The Ladies have collected 10+ hits in game 15 times this season and are tied for 85th national in hits and tied for 84th in stolen bases.

Cox is second in the country in division III in stolen bases and has only been caught three times. She is tied for 16th nationally in hits, tied for 43rd in batting average, and leads the conference in hits and runs scored, and is third in batting average and OBP and fourth in slugging. Cox, named the SCAC Hitter of the Week earlier this month, has 18 multi-hit games this season including five games with 3-hits and has stolen two or more bases in a game 15 times this season.

Shepherd is 2-2 in the circle with a 3.13 ERA, two complete games and a save in 16 appearances and three starts. She ranks eighth in the conference in strikeouts with 39 in 53.2 IP. Scarbrock has not pitched since she suffered an injury against Schreiner on March 29 at home. She was in the midst of an outstanding season as she is 6-5 with a 2.54 ERA in 13 appearances and 11 starts. She has struck out 22 and walked only six batters in 63.1 IP. She started that game last month against Schreiner and went 5.1 innings and allowed just three hits with a strikeout but left after being hit in the hand with a line drive. Scarbrock was named the SCAC Pitcher of the Week on March 18. 

Sophomore P Alexis Roach (Pineville, La.) has made 11 appearances and 10 starts and is 1-6 with a 7.95 ERA. Sophomore P Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) is 0-3 with a 6.49 ERA and one save in seven appearances and two starts. Sophomore P Riley Myers (Shreveport, La.) is 2-3 with a 4.50 ERA in 15 appearances and nine starts and sophomore P/UT Abigail Hodgson (Georgetown, Texas) is 0-3 with a 5.60 ERA in seven appearances.

Crow and Hodgson have also seen action at the plate as the two have combined for 31 hits, 17 RBI, 11 runs scored, and eight extra-base hits. Shepherd also has 26 at-bats and has produced nine hits with six RBI, two doubles, and a walk.

Stokes has had another impressive season in a follow up to a stellar rookie campaign as she is hitting .330 with 38 hits, 23 runs scored, 14 RBI, 12 walks, three doubles, and two stolen bases. Sophomore UT River Boultinghouse (Saint Gabriel, La.) is batting .274 with 20 hits, 14 runs scored, 10 RBI, three doubles, and three triples.
