Flowood, Miss. – The Centenary swimming teams came up short to the Millsaps College Majors in a non-conference dual meet on Saturday as the Gents lost 120-52 and the Ladies fell 124-73 at GRIT Training.
Centenary claimed seven individual wins and one relay win on Saturday, highlighted by three wins by sophomore Madeline Vacula (Belton, Texas) as she now has eight this season and 15 in her young career, and claimed three wins in a meet for the second time this season. Freshman Jameson Feeney (Shreveport, La.) won both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.93) and 200 breast (2:39.95) which marked the first two individual wins of his career.
Vacula swam the 200-yard backstroke in a winning time of 2:21.24, won the 200 IM (2:26.94), and the 1000 free in a time of 11:05.75. Junior Antonio Barbee (Plaquemine, La.) won the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.78) and earned a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100 free (55.62) and 100 fly (58.94).
Junior Anacelia Galeano Balam (Baton Rouge, La.) recorded an individual victory in the 100 fly (1:08.14). She also placed second in the 200 fly (2:47.51).
Senior Katie Malicoat (Wichita, Kan.) finished as runner-up in the 200 IM (2:38.57) and junior Aiden Peterkin (Zachary, La.) placed second in the 200 free (2:02.34).
The Ladies' team of Malicoat, Galeano Balam, senior Christine Goodman (Alexandria, La.), and freshman Adriana de la Fuente (Baton Rouge, La.) won the 400-free relay in a time of 4:35.58. Vacula teamed with Galeano Balam, Goodman, and Malicoat to place second in the 200-medley relay (2:07.02) and Barbee, Feeney, Peterkin, and freshman Donovan Tohill (Lumberton, Texas) swam a time of 1:57.69 to earn a runner-up finish in the 200-medley relay.
Centenary will next be in action on Saturday, Nov. 5 as the Maroon and White host their annual Alumni/Intrasquad Meet at 1 p.m.
