LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Centenary men's basketball player James Sapp has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week following his accomplishments this past weekend as announced by the conference office.
Sapp, who garners his second accolade from the conference, averaged 22.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. The Shongaloo, La., native scored a career-high 24 points in a win over Colorado College. The point total surpasses his previous career best of 21 that he tied against the Tigers a night prior. The victory marked the first over the Black and Gold in program history.
The sophomore has scored in double figures 10 times this season including nine consecutive and has four, 20-plus, point outings on the campaign.
Sapp finished the two-game span shooting 56.5 percent from the field and was 76 percent from the charity stripe in 29.5 minutes on the court.
Centenary returns to action on the Friday, Jan. 9 as it travels to Texas Lutheran. Tip is slated for 8 p.m.
