Swimming Earns Home Victory Over Ozarks On Saturday
The Centenary swimming teams recorded a combined victory over the University of the Ozarks by a score of 219-125 in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference dual meet on Saturday inside the Centenary Fitness Center.

The Gents earned a dominating 137-27 victory while the Ladies fell 98-82. Sophomore Hunter Hedges (Murphy, Texas) continued the strong start to his season as he tallied three individual wins on the men's side and junior Reece Esser (Huntsville, Texas) matched Hedges with three wins of her own to lead the Ladies.
Centenary swept the 200-yard medley relay as - junior Ubaldo Ayala (Hallsville, Texas), senior Daniel Lewis (Alexandria, La.), freshman Kelvin Ridgley Jr. (Zachary, La.), and sophomore Adam Stelly (Opelousas, La.) swam a time of 1:52.18 and on the women's side, sophomore Bailey Allemeier (Altus, Okla.), freshman Anna Hicks (Lafayette, La.), sophomore Isabela Vasquez (Lafayette, La.) teamed with Esser to swim a winning time of 2:06.54.
Esser claimed wins in the 50 free (25.96), 100 fly (1:04.49) and 100 back (1:05.87) and now has eight individual victories this season. Allemeier won the 500 free (6:11.66) and junior Cicely Jackson (Lafayette, La.) finished as runner-up, swimming a time of 6:11.75.
Allemeier earned a runner-up finish in the 200 free (2:18.36) and Jackson finished third – 2:18.55. Vasquez (29.45) and Hicks (30.42) finished third and fourth in the 50 free. Vasquez also finished fourth in the 200 IM (2:49.20), Hicks was third in the 100 free (1:05.95) and junior Kennadi St. Clair (Duncanville, Texas) was behind her in fourth (1:09.56). Jackson also earned a third-place finish in the 100 fly (1:10.99).
Vasquez (1:17.97), Hicks (1:26.46), and St. Clair (1:33.89) finished third, fifth, and sixth in the 100 breast, Allemeier was third in the 100 back (1:14.42) and senior Adriana de la Fuente (Baton Rouge, La.) finished fourth (1:25.66).
Hedges' three individual wins came in the 100 fly (54.65), 100 back (58.71), and 100 breast (1:04.31). Stelly won the 500 free (5:27.80) and was runner-up in the 100 fly (56.69).
Sophomore Parker Randolph (Shreveport, La.) won the 200 free (2:02.47), was runner-up in the 100 back (1:06.19), and was third in the 100 fly (58.75). Sophomore Cade Campbell (Ruston, La.), sophomore Jordan Jerrigan (Temple, Texas), and freshman Jack Williams (Lafayette, La.) teamed with Randolph to win the 200 free relay (1:40.06).
Lewis won the 200 IM (2:17.23) and Ayala was runner-up (2:17.70) with Campbell finishing fourth (2:32.78). Lewis was also third in the 100 back (1:06.19) and Campbell fifth (1:08.99).
Sophomore Sake Stroderd (Sulphur, La.) won the 100 free (52.21) and Williams was runner-up (52.43) and the duo did the same in the 50 free as Stroderd swam a winning time of 23.34 and Williams second in a time of 23.99. Stelly placed third as he swam a time of 24.24. Jerrigan was also fourth in the 500 free – 6:12.31.
The Gents claimed the top three spots in the 100 breast stroke as Stroderd was second (1:08.57) and Ayala third (1:13.29) behind Hedges. Freshman George Arrona (Harlingen, Texas) finished fourth in the 200 free (2:18.33).
Stroderd tallied two wins and a runner-up finish, Stelly, Randolph, and Allemeier each had a win, runner-up, and third-place finish. Williams recorded a pair of runner-up finishes, Lewis had a win and a third-place finish, Vasquez earned a pair of third-place finishes, and Jackson had a runner-up and a pair of third-place finishes.
The Ladies and Gents will compete in the "Mid-Season Invitational" hosted by Hendrix College on Nov. 21-23 in Conway, Ark.
