Venious Highlights Gents' Performance At  Louisiana Classics

Lafayette, La. - The Centenary men's and women's track and field teams completed action in the Louisiana Classics hosted by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette on Saturday at the Home Bank Soccer & Track Complex.

Senior Xavier Venious (Bossier City, La.) highlighted the meet for Centenary as he finished third in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.38. Junior Aubrey Salazar (San Antonio, Texas) recorded the Ladies' top finish as she placed 33rd in the shot put (8.48m).

Sophomore Julianna Malloy (Dallas, Texas) finished 37th in the 200 Meter Dash (29.75) and 41st in the 100 Meter Dash (14.33). Senior Derek Smith (Bossier City, La.) placed 17th in the Shot Put (13.18m) and freshman Herman Pride (Baton Rouge, La.) finished 33rd in the Long Jump (5.26m) and 39th in the 100 Meter Dash (11.45).

Sophomore Randy Levert (New Orleans, La.), Venious, freshman Bryan Washington (Wylie, Texas), and senior Coby Harris (Lafayette, La.) teamed to finish ninth in the 4 x 100 Meter Relay (43.37). Washington finished 29th in the 400 Meter Dash (52.52) and sophomore Lydell Hunter (New Orleans. La.) placed 39th (57.29).

The Ladies and Gents return to action next weekend as they compete in the Belhaven Invitational on Saturday in Jackson, Miss.
