Ladies Sixth After Day One At Crusader Cup

The Ladies, playing in their final tournament of the Fall season, are joined this week by the host Crusaders, Howard Payne University, Lyon College, Millsaps College, Our Lady of the Lake University, Schreiner University, and Texas Lutheran University. The field is being tested by a par 72, a 5,648-yard layout. The final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
Our Lady of the Lake is the day one leader after shooting a 29-over par 317 as the Saints lead second-place Schreiner by 26 strokes as the Mountaineers posted a 55-over par 343. The host Crusaders are third (+ 60, 348), Millsaps is fourth (+65, 353), TLU is fifth (+67, 355) ahead of the Ladies by 21 strokes, Lyon is seventh (+106, 394), and Howard Payne is eighth at 170-over par 458.
Annabella Reyna of Our Lady of the Lake is the individual leader after she shot a 3-over par 75 and is two shots ahead of Annie Piggott of Millsaps (5-over 77). Reyna's four teammates are all in the top 10 as the Saints are in good position for a team victory on Tuesday.
Freshman Haylee Crowder (Haughton, La.) is the Ladies' leader after round one as she shot a 17-over par 89 and sits in a tie for 17th place. Junior Kaylee Roberts (Watonga, Okla.) shot a 22-over par 94 and is 23rd, sophomore Mya Thompson (South Jordan, Utah) is tied for 24th place after shooting a 23-over par 95, freshman Amber Shaw (Hughes Springs, Texas) is in 33rd place at 26-over par 98, and sophomore Jordyn Templeton (Columbus, Texas) shot a 36-over 108 and is tied for 38th place.
Crowder tied for 11th place last week in the Bash at the Bend held at Cypress Bend Resort in Many, La. and finished 15th at the 2024 SCAC Preview last month in Whitney, Texas. She was also the Ladies' top scorer in a dual match against Southern University at Oakwing Golf Club in Alexandria, La. on Oct. 14 as she shot an 18-over par 90. She seeks her first top-10 finish of the season on Tuesday.
