The Diamond Gents (6-9, 1-1 SCAC) opened conference play on Monday by splitting a DH with the University of Dallas Crusaders, winning game one 8-0 and falling 6-3 in game two in Irving, Texas. Austin College enters the series at 7-9 overall and 1-1 in league play. The 'Roos are 2-7 on the road this season and split two games with Schreiner University last weekend at home in their first SCAC series of the season. Game three of the series is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.

Centenary snapped a five-game losing streak with the game one win against the Crusaders on Monday and recorded its first shutout of the season and first since blanking Austin College, 13-0 in seven innings, on April 29, 2023. Centenary has only played one home game this season, falling 5-3 in 11 innings on March 5 to UT-Dallas. Centenary is 46-16 at Shehee Stadium since the beginning of the 2021 season.

The Diamond Gents are one of the conference's top offensive clubs as they enter the weekend hitting .316 as a team with a .391 on-base percentage and are slugging .436 with 10 home runs. Centenary, though, has struggled on the mound as a whole as the Maroon and White have a team ERA of 5.82. Austin College is batting .260 as team with a .341 OBP, slugging .346 and has hit five home runs. The 'Roos have a 6.69 team ERA.

The Diamond Gents are averaging 7.0 runs per game, have 43 extra-base hits, 27 stolen bases, and have posted at least 10 hits in a game in 12 of 15 games this season. Their .316 batting average ranks 52nd nationally in all of division III and they are 59th in the country in hits (170).

Sophomore LHP Cody Myers (Friendswood, Texas) has been a bright spot on the staff as he is 4-1 with an impressive 0.99 ERA in six appearances and four starts. Myers started in game one of Centenary's DH at Dallas on Monday and was superb as he went seven innings and allowed just two hits with a season and career-high 13 strikeouts. Myers' 13 K's are tied for the second-most in a single game in the division III era (2012-present) in program history. He faced 25 batters and threw 134 pitches with 81 for strikes

Freshman 1B Alex Miller (Cypress, Texas) leads the team in batting average (.396) with a 492 OBP and is slugging .660. He has belted a team-high three home runs, is tied for first with one triple, second with 14 RBI, third in stolen bases (three), tied for third in hits with 21 and fourth in doubles with three. Sophomore LF Carson Livesay (Lafayette, La.) leads the team in hits (25) and senior SS Jobee Boone (Opelousas, La.) is next with 24. senior RF Austyn Benoit (Welsh, La.) is tied with Miller with 21 hits and sophomore CF Collin Pitts (Lufkin, Texas) has 20 hits.

Benoit is the team leader in RBI (19), Livesay is tied with Miller with 14, and Boone has 10. sophomore 3B Clay Menard (Berwick, La.) and senior C Jake Gonce (Katy, Texas) each have 11 RBI. Livesay leads the way in runs scored with 19, Menard has 17, Miller has 16, and Boone 12.

Centenary looks to continue its dominance in the all-time series as the Maroon and White lead 33-2 and have won nine games in a row since their last loss on April 17, 2019 in Sherman by a score of 4-2.
