Six Individual, One Relay Win Nets Harrison Initial SCAC Swimmer of Week of 2017-18

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - In the first three meets of the season, senior Zach Harrison has six individual wins and one victory as part of a relay team to be named the initial Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Male Swimmer of the Week for 2017-18 on Tuesday, October 17.

In the first meet of the season against Ouachita Baptist and the University of the Ozarks on Friday, September 22, Harrison completed the 100-200 freestyle sweep with times of 48.63 and 147.70, respectively. The following day against the same two teams, Harrison completed an unusual 50 and 500 freestyle sweep. He won the 50 by nearly two seconds with a time 22.45, Breaking the 5-minute mark in the 500 with a time of 4:59.05.

In the first home competition of the season against Hendrix on October 5, he completed another 100-200 freestyle sweep. He took the 100 by more than three seconds (48.12), while winning the 200 with a time of 1:50.12.

Also in the home opener, the 200 medley quartet of Harrison, freshman Blake Smith, and seniors Mason Kay and Roberto Roig-Perez finished first with a time of 1:40.49.

Centenary swimming returns to action for a pair of dual meets this weekend. The Gents and Ladies take on Trinity Friday, October 20, before finishing the weekend against Southwestern on Saturday, October 21.
