THE COLONY, Texas - The Centenary swimming teams make the trip to Texas for the annual Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference swimming championships February 14-17.
The festivities begin Wednesday at 6 p.m. with the finals of the 200 medley and 800 free relays. The preliminaries of individual events begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday-Saturday, with finals each day kicking off at 6 p.m. (except 5:45 p.m. Saturday).
Five Ladies and Gents swimmers return that earned All-Conference accolades either in individual events or as a member of a relay team in 2017. Senior Zach Harrison took runner-up honors in both the 100 and 200 freestyles, while classmate Anthony McDonald took third in the 100 breaststroke. For the Ladies, sophomore Jessi Jordan finished third in the 200 breaststroke.
The Gents also return 3-of-4 members of a trio of relays that finished All-Conference. McDonald, Harrison, and senior Roberto Roig-Perez teamed up with former Gent swimmer Juan Tapia to finish third in both the 200 and 400 medley relays. Harrison, McDonald, Tapia, and sophomore Eddie Dyess took second in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:57.93 - the fastest time in the event since the 2011 Summit League Championships.
