Harrison All-Conference in 500 Freestyle in Day 2 of SCAC Championships

THE COLONY, Texas - Centenary Gents senior Zack Harrison finished third in the 500 freestyle to capture All-Conference accolades, while the Gents are fourth and the Ladies are fifth after day two of the 2018 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimming Championships.

The Gents hold on to fourth place with 143 points, one point ahead of Austin College. The Ladies sit fifth with 104 points, 13 behind fourth-place McMurray. Trinity ranks atop both the men's and women's championships through two days.

Harrison, who already broke the Centenary Division III record earlier in the day in the prelims with a time of 4:46.50 (the ninth-best time overall in school history), shaved nearly three seconds off his mark in the finals. He touched the wall in 4:43.72, the sixth-best time in school history.

In other event finals, sophomore Jessi Jordan improved nearly two seconds from the prelims to the finals in the 200 IM, touching the wall seventh with a time of 2:14.88, the second-fastest Division III time.

In other individual event finals, junior Gents swimmer McRee Smith finished fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.69. Senior Anthony McDonald took eighth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:01.81.

The Ladies 200 freestyle relay team of senior Caitlyn Faulhaber, junior Rebecca Dunn, freshman Jesse Hageman, and Jordan took fifth with a time of 1:47.16.

Centenary returns to the pool tomorrow, February 16, with prelims scheduled for 10:30 and event finals at 6 p.m. for the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 400 medley relays. Centenary will also make its diving debut when junior Zach Norton will compete in the 1-meter springboard event.
