Shreveport - Senior Xavier Venious (Bossier City, La.) was named All-SCAC following his runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Trinity University Track & Field Stadium in San Antonio on April 27-28.
Venious' time of 55.64 was second to only Trinity's Justin Johnson (53.51). Venious placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in the 2023 championships, running a time of 55.00. He helped lead the Gents to a sixth-place finish at last month's meet as the Maroon and White tallied 16 points. He also placed sixth in the 400-meter dash as he ran a time of 49.80.
Venious put an exclamation point on a superb senior season which saw him record multiple top-five finishes. He recorded Centenary's top finish of the Pelican Relays hosted by Southern University on April 6 in Baton Rouge as he placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best 56.38. He finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with an identical season-best time of 56.38 at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette on March 16.
