Shreveport - The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams held their annual Intrasquad/Alumni Meet last Saturday afternoon inside the Centenary Fitness Center.

The Alumni team consisted of approximately 25-30 former swimmers throughout the program's history, including program record holders Kaylin Swoboda and Devin Ross.

Swoboda, among her many accomplishments in her Ladies' career, owns the fastest time in history in the 100-yard breaststroke after she swam a time of 1:05.19 at the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships. Ross is the all-time recordholder in the 50-free (20.13), 100-free (45.05) and 100-fly (48.44) as all three times were set in the 2012 season.

The White team was captained by senior Aiden Peterkin (Zachary, La.) and he was joined by sophomore Adriana de la Fuente (Baton Rouge, La.), freshman Cicely Jackson (Lafayette, La.), freshman Allie Matherne (Cut Off, La.), freshman Hannah Waddell (Shreveport, La.), freshman Ubaldo Ayala (Hallsville, Texas), freshman Kennadi St. Clair (Duncanville, Texas), and sophomore Jameson Feeney (Shreveport, La.).

The Maroon team was captained by senior Anacelia Galeano-Balam (Baton Rouge, La.) and she was joined by freshman Stacy Brown (Baytown, Texas), freshman Reece Esser (Huntsville, Texas), freshman Nick Gordon (Aurora, Colo.), senior Antonio Barbee (Plaquemine, La.), freshman Gunnar Durham (Lufkin, Texas), freshman Sydney Welch (Moss Bluff, La.). and junior Madeline Vacula (Belton, Texas)

"Overall it was a closely competitive, fun, and exciting meet," said Centenary head coach Tom Radam.

"It was incredibly nice to have both past and present members of Centenary's Men's and Women's Swimming programs on campus at the FIT in the pool sharing their joy for Centenary and Swimming."

"It's nice to have the former team members sharing their stories with the current team, especially our freshmen. This is how team traditions and values are passed down from one class of athletes to the next!

"For me personally, the most moving and inspirational moment of the day occurred at the meet's end when all the alumni and current men's and women's team members came together in the middle of the pool and as single team celebrated with a Centenary Cheer and then turned to our fans and families in the bleachers, waved and collectively shouted "Thank You, Thank You!!"

Saturday's meet was the last action for the Maroon and White until the calendar turns over to 2024. The Ladies and Gents will have a pair of home regular-season meets in January - Wednesday, Jan. 10 versus Millsaps (4 p.m.) and then on Senior Day against Austin College (Saturday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m.). Centenary will also compete in the Austin College Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 13 in Sherman, Texas at 1 p.m.
