SHREVEPORT, La. – The Ladies Gymnastics team broke 190 for the first time in 2019 while also claiming six career bests and two event wins as Centenary (2-5-1) fell to Texas Woman's (5-4) 192.875-190.075 Friday night, February 1.

Centenary also claimed an event win on floor, 48.325-48.100, while the Pioneers just edged out the Ladies on vault, 47-750-47.725. The visitors also claimed a win on bars (48.400-47.175) and beam (48.625-46.850).

In the first rotation after four performers, Centenary broke out of the 9.350-9.525 range in a big way. Senior Navia Jordan received a mark as high as a 9.65 from one judge to finish the event with a new career high of 9.575. Junior Cami Bea Austin finished off the event for the Ladies with a big career high of 9.775 to easily win vault by 0.15.

The middle of the order led the Ladies on bars. After sophomore Jenny Jackson set a new career high with a 9.575 in the second position, freshman Xian Baumgartner received a 9.650 on the apparatus – a new career high by more than four tenths. Baumgartner finished third on bars for the competition.

Centenary finished the meet strong with a big season high team score on floor. Senior Elizabeth Sander kicked off the event with a career high of 9.575. After a 9.550 from Jackson, freshman Kendall Sanders received a 9.650 on floor for the second consecutive meet. Following a 9.450 from senior Tavia Smith, the Ladies scored big to finish off the meet. Austin received a 9.700 in the fifth position before Jordan scored an event win with a 9.85 – easily a season best.

Smith (37.975) and Sanders (37.575) finished second and third, respectively, in the all-around. Texas Woman's Bria Northrop claimed the all-around title with a 39.050, winning on bars (9.825) and matching Jordan's 9.850 on floor. Erin Alderman won on beam with a 9.800 for the Pioneers.

Centenary concludes the weekend Sunday, February 3, when it hosts Gustavus Adolphus. First rotation is set for 2 p.m.
