Men's Golf Third After Round One In MUW Invitational

Starkville, Miss. - The Centenary men's golf team is in third place after the first day of play in the MUW Invitational after the Gents shot a 15-over par 299 on Monday at the Mississippi State Golf Course.

Centenary, already in action for the third time this month, was led by senior Harrison John (Lafayette, La.) and sophomore Richard Polan (Brno, Czech Republic) as each shot 3-over par 74s. Colby Blake of William Carey University and Faulkner University's Emerson Bam are tied for the individual lead at 1-under 70. The final round begins on Tuesday morning.

William Carey is on top of the team leaderboard after Monday's opening round after shooting a 4-over par 288. Faulkner's "A" team is in second place, five shots off the lead, after shooting a 9-over 293 and just six shots ahead of the Gents.

Host Mississippi University for Women is fourth after shooting a 20-over par 304 and Faulkner's "B" team is fifth at 23-over par 307.

Gents' freshman Ricky Blair (Bossier City, La.) is tied for 13th place after shooting a 4-over 75 and senior Brodey Warner (Brookeland, Texas) is tied for 15th after shooting a 5-over par 76. Freshman Riley Chase (Crosby, Texas) shot a 6-over 77 and is in a tie for 18th
