Gents Fall At Hanover On Saturday, 13-2

Hanover, Ind. – The Centenary lacrosse team fell 13-2 to the Hanover College Panthers on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest at the Panther Athletic Complex.

The Gents (0-5) were playing on the road for the first time this season and also facing the Panthers (1-1) for the first time in program history. The Gents took a 2-0 lead three and a half minutes into the game, but Hanover responded with a pair of goals to end the first quarter and then scored four in the second period for a 6-2 lead at halftime. Centenary's defense held Hanover to just one goal in the third quarter but the Panthers then scored six in the final 15 minutes to cruise to the win.

Hanover finished with a 49-26 advantage in shots and had 57 ground balls to the Gents' 36. The Panthers won 16-18 of face-off opportunities while the Gents went 2-18. Hanover was 33-41 on clears and Centenary finished 34-42. Centenary freshman GK Alex Nicks-Davis (Nashville, Tenn.) played all 60 minutes and recorded 11 saves. Hanover played a pair of goalies as Sean O'Meara (1-1) played the first 56 minutes and made 14 saves while allowing both goals. Lance Guttormson played the final four minutes and made one save. 

Centenary junior A John Mark Waniewski (Bossier City, La.) and sophomore midfielder Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) scored the goals for the Gents and Cook assisted Waniewski's goal. Freshman MF Marc Mackey (Houston, Texas) led the Gents with six shots and freshman A Braxton Parchman (Shreveport, La.) and freshman A G'Colby Spivey (Dallas, Texas) each had four.

Waniewski, Cook, and each took three shots. Junior M/A Kyle Comi (Allen, Texas) led the team in ground balls with six and Mackey, junior D Ethan Little (Tyler, Texas), and sophomore D Matthew Lulich (New Orleans, La.) each had five. Nicks-Davis had four, Parchman had three and Cook and Spivey each had a pair. Mackey and Little each had two caused turnovers. Junior MF Blake Federico (Boerne, Texas) took three shots, had a caused turnover, and one ground ball. 

Centenary finishes the roadtrip with another non-conference contest versus Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Monday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m.
