The Gents Edged Anderson 12-11 on Friday for their first win of the season.

Anderson, Ind. – The Centenary lacrosse team edged the Anderson University Ravens, 12-11, on Friday night at Macholtz Stadium.

The Gents won their first game of the season to improve to 1-6 while the Ravens dropped to 4-3. Centenary responded nicely from a 27-11 loss to the Kalamazoo College Hornets on Tuesday in a non-conference, neutral-site contest in Irving, Texas. Tuesday's game marked Centenary's first action in nearly a month, since a 13-2 loss to Hanover College on Feb. 26.

Centenary's offense, as it has been for the majority of the season, was effective on Friday as the Gents scored double-digit goals for the fourth time this season and second-consecutive game. Friday's victory was also a comeback effort as the Ravens jumped out to a 4-0 lead midway through the first quarter and led 7-3 after the period. Anderson led 8-5 at the half but the third quarter belonged to Centenary as the Maroon and White finished with a 5-0 advantage in the period. Centenary led 12-8 with 9:58 remaining and held off a late rally by the Ravens to claim the one-goal win.

The Gents were back on the field on Tuesday for the first time in nearly a month, having last played on Feb. 26 when they fell 13-2 at Hanover College. Centenary fell behind 14-0 at the half but caught fire in the second half, scoring 11 goals.

Sophomore midfielder Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) scored five goals, the second time he has done so this season after previously scoring five against Huntingdon on Feb. 13, and recorded his third multi-goal performance of the season after scoring three against Hendrix on Feb. 15. Cook now has six multi-goal games in his career and a team-leading 16 this season. Freshman A G'Colby Spivey (Dallas, Texas) scored three goals, marking his third multi-goal game of the season and second in a row after scoring a season-high four on Tuesday against Kalamazoo.
