Gents Fall At Home To Colorado College On Senior Day

Shreveport – The Centenary lacrosse team fell 18-2 on Sunday afternoon on its Senior Day to the Colorado College Tigers in a Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) contest at Mayo Field.

Centenary honored its three seniors – MF Dario Garcia (Dallas, Texas), D Ethan Little (Tyler, Texas), and LSM/FO Tripp Montgomery (New Iberia, La.) in a postgame ceremony. The Gents (2-7, 0-2 HCLC) had their two-game winning streak snapped by the Tigers (4-7, 1-0 HCLC). Colorado College started fast, taking an 8-0 lead after the first quarter and led 14-0 at halftime.

Junior M/A Kyle Comi (Allen, Texas) and sophomore M/A Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) each scored an unassisted goal in the second half for the Gents. Comi now has nine goals this season while Cook has found the net a team-leading 19 times. Declan Maguire, Max Carneal, and Kevin Somerville each scored three goals to lead the Tigers' offense. Charlie Rainer added two and Colorado College tallied six assists.

The Tigers finished with 36 shots to 12 for the Gents with 24 coming on goal. Colorado College had 29 ground balls to 10 for Centenary and won all but five face-off opportunities. Each team played two goalkeepers as freshman Alex Nicks-Davis (Nashville, Tenn.) started for the Gents and recorded two saves and was then replaced by fellow freshman Jason Turner (Bossier City, La.) minutes into the second quarter and played the remainder of the game making four saves.

Pat Mahoney started for the Tigers and picked up the win as he made two saves. Cam Devlin replaced him and played the entire second half, making three saves and allowing both goals.

The Gents will face Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Centenary fell to Huntingdon 15-14 at home on Feb. 13 in the previous meeting between the two teams.
