Gents Blank MUW On Friday For First Win

Shreveport– The Centenary men's soccer team recorded an impressive 2-0 victory over the Mississippi University for Women Owls on Friday night in non-conference action at Mayo Field.

The Gents (1-1-1) received goals from freshman F Carter Webb (Flower Mound, Texas) and junior D Dylan Allred (Lafayette, La.) and junior Casey Clemo (Forney, Texas) earned a shutout as the Maroon and White tallied their first victory of the young season. The Owls (0-3) remained winless on the season and were held scoreless for a second time in three matches this season.

Clemo played the entire match and recorded two saves while MUW keeper Zach Seymour also went the distance and made four saves. The Gents finished with an 18-2 advantage in shots, took seven corner kicks to the Owls' three, and 21 total fouls were called – 8 committed by the Gents and 13 by the Owls. Webb scored in the 41st minute, an unassisted goal, and Allred also knocked home an unassisted score in the 52nd minute.

The Huntingdon College Hawks (1-1) and Sul Ross State University (0-1) will join the Gents and Owls this weekend as four matches will be played among the teams. The Hawks and Owls face off at Noon on Saturday and MUW and Sul Ross play on Sunday at Noon.

Centenary completes the weekend with a match against Huntingdon on Sunday at 2 p.m.
