Gents Blanked 5-0 By TLU On Friday Night

Shreveport – The Centenary men's soccer team fell 5-0 to the nationally-ranked Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs on Friday night in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Mayo Field.

The Gents (3-5-2, 0-2 SCAC) returned to action for the first time since losing their conference opener last Friday at home to Colorado College. The Bulldogs, ranked No. 19 in the nation by United Soccer Coaches, improved to 12-0 and 3-0 in league play.

TLU scored its first goal just over three minutes into the match as Louis Hart scored with the assist credited to Erick Lopez. In the 20th minute, Jack Manke scored an unassisted goal and the Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead into the half.

Preston Huff's sixth goal of the season, assisted by Noah Harris, made it 3-0 just minutes into the second half. Jorge Ugaz made it 4-0 in the 49th minute with the assist credited to Evan Bremauntz. Carson Alldredge made it 5-0 in the 8th minute to cap the scoring.

Centenary junior GK Sam Brocato (Leesville, La.) went the distance for the Gents and made four saves while TLU's Noel Pena played all 90 minutes and made one save. The Bulldogs finished with a 14-3 advantage in shots and took six corner kicks while the Gents took just one. Centenary was whistled for 13 fouls and TLU picked up nine.

The Gents wrap up their home weekend with another conference contest on Sunday against the Southwestern University Pirates at 2 p.m.
