Women's Soccer Aims for Historic 7-0 Start on Friday

Shreveport, La. - The Centenary women's soccer team aims for history Friday as the Ladies look to remain unbeaten on the season and get off to the best start in program history when they face Austin College in a match set for 5 p.m. at Mayo Field.

The Ladies (6-0) are unbeaten through their first six matches for the second consecutive, but have never started 7-0. In addition to being perfect through six matches last season the Ladies started 6-0 in 1995 in just the fourth year of the program's existence. The Maroon and White defeated Hendrix 3-1 at home on Tuesday, in just the second home match of the season for the Ladies.

The new playing surface at Mayo Field, installed prior to this season, will be officially dedicated  prior to the doubleheader. The celebration begins at 4:30 p.m. with a welcome and remarks by Centenary president Dr. Chris Holoman followed by the playing of the national anthem at approximately 4:50 p.m. A pregame tailgate party, sponsored by SGA, will begin at 5 p.m. and at that same time the Ladies face the 'Roos before the Gents follow at 7 p.m. "Up with People" will perform at halftime of the men's match.

Centenary scored two goals in the first half on Tuesday after Hendrix scored first and the Ladies took that 2-1 lead into halftime before adding one second-half goal. Senior Migui Boldrin (Ribeiaro, Brazil) scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season off an assist from teammate Celests Muniz. Senior forward Kyra Montes (Shreveport, La.) notched her fourth and fifth goals of the season in just her fourth game.

Austin College enters Friday's match at 2-4-1 overall and have lost three straight matches. The 'Roos fell by a score of 3-2 in overtime to Schreiner at home on Sunday.

Admission is FREE to all home Centenary athletic contests. Both live stats and live streaming will be available for Friday's matches. #CTheOpportunity
