Women's Soccer Faces Texas Lutheran On Senior Night On Friday

Shreveport – The Centenary women's soccer team will face the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs on Friday in a critical Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match set for 5 p.m. at Mayo Field.

Friday is Senior Night for Centenary and six Ladies; Betza Bravo (Katy, Texas), Migui Boldrin (Ribeiaro, Brazil), Emilee Byrd (Shreveport), Serena Gallegos (Katy, Texas), Gabby Lovemore (Natchitoches, La.), and Kyra Montes (Shreveport) will be honored in a special pregame ceremony starting at approximately 4:45 p.m.

The Ladies (14-1, 5-1 SCAC) are currently tied for second in the conference standings with the University of Dallas, just behind leader Trinity (6-0). Centenary has defeated Dallas twice this season, once before conference play began, 2-1 on Sept. 29, and once in SCAC play last weekend, 3-2 on the road.

Texas Lutheran is 7-7-1 and 2-4 in SCAC play. Seeding for the 2019 SCAC Women's Soccer Championship, to take place Nov. 8-10 in Georgetown, Texas and hosted by Southwestern, will be determined after this weekend's games.

Centenary has won four-straight matches and is 7-0 at home. The Ladies have outscored the opposition, 19-5, in those seven matches and have posted a pair of shutouts. The Maroon and White swept the SCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors on Monday as the league office announced that Boldrin was named SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Gabby McDonald (Pasadena, Texas) was named the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, October 27th.

Boldrin scored three goals and had an assist this past weekend and is the team and SCAC leader in goals (16) and points (38) and also has six assists and four game-winning goals. This is the second Offensive Player of the Week honor this season for Boldrin. She also achieved the honor after week one of the season after scoring a pair of game-winning goals. She has produced one of the best offensive seasons in program history in the division III era and is a candidate for conference offensive player of the year.

McDonald was a lock down defender this past week for the Ladies and scored the game-winning goal in the 3-2 win at Dallas in the 73rd minute to break a tie and give the Maroon and White the key SCAC victory. McDonald now has two goals and an assist in 14 games (12 starts) this season for the Ladies. She became the second Centenary player this season on the defensive side of the ball to earn this honor as previously goalkeeper Karlie Delhommer (St. Amant, La.) was the week six honoree. Monday's honors marks just the second time this season that a school has had both the defensive and offensive players of the week as Trinity previously accomplished this during week seven.

Montes, one of the most decorated and accomplished players in the division III era of the program, has nine goals and 10 assists this season and leads the SCAC in points per game, assists, and assists per game and is second in points, goals per game, and game-winning goals, and third in goals. She holds the division III era program records for goals in a career with 26, game-winning goals in a career with 12, career assists with 17 and career points with 69 in 37 career starts. Montes recorded a hat trick versus Louisiana College on Oct. 21, her third hat trick of her career. Boldrin and Montes form the most productive and dynamic duo in the conference as the two have combined 25 goals, 16 assists, and 66 points this season.

The Ladies wrap up the regular season on Sunday versus Southwestern at Noon. Live stats and live video via College TV Ticket will be available for both matches and admission is FREE to both matches as well #CTheOpportunity #GoCentenary
