Ladies Fall At LeTourneau 1-0 In OT

Longview, Texas - The Centenary women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision in overtime to the LeTourneau University YellowJackets on Sunday evening in non-conference play at the LeTourneau Soccer Field.

The Ladies (2-8-2) played their third-straight overtime or double overtime match and fourth of the season. Centenary, which earned a hard-fought 0-0 double-overtime tie on Friday versus the St. Thomas Celts in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Mayo Field, also tied Schreiner 1-1 on Oct. 3 in Kerrville in double OT. Centenary previously defeated St. Thomas 1-0 back on Sept. 10 in Houston in double overtime.

The YellowJackets and Ladies battled for 90 minutes and then just over two minutes into overtime, LeTourneau's Miranda Coffey scored off the assist from Kara Gipson. Centenary freshman GK Madison Ersoff (Shreveport) started and collected three saves. LeTourneau keeper Kiersten Reeser picked up the victory as she recorded the shutout and collected four saves. The Ladies finished the match with 10 shots to seven for LeTourneau and the Maroon and White also held a 9-5 edge in corner kicks.

The Ladies are back home for a pair of SCAC matches this weekend, beginning on Friday, Oct. 15 versus Southwestern (7:30 p.m.) and then face Texas Lutheran in their annual Senior Day match on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 2:30 p.m.

The Centenary Women's Soccer program has joined forces with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation's Vs. Cancer program this season to defeat childhood cancer – the deadliest disease affecting children in the United States. The Ladies' match versus Southwestern on Friday will be played in honor of children and teens who have experienced a pediatric brain tumor or cancer diagnosis.
