Cheer To Compete In Virtual Kickoff On Wednesday

Shreveport - The Centenary Competitive Cheer team will compete in its first competition of the season by participating in The Star Spirit Productions Virtual Kickoff on Wednesday.

The 15-member team has spent the fall semester cheering for football, volleyball, and soccer and now looks forward to taking the mat for its own competitive season. The roster this season features three seniors, three juniors, one sophomore, and eight freshmen.

"I'm excited to see this team take the floor this season," said Centenary head coach Kaylee King.

"They are a young team overall but have some great leaders who know exactly what it's going to take to have success during this competitive season. The team overall has a solid game day presence and I know that they will put out three very solid game day routines.

"I'm also thrilled to announce that new to the team this season will be a big routine better known as a traditional routine where select members of the team will perform to music for 2:30. There's a lot of talent on this team and as we continue to tap into it between now and nationals, and I look forward to seeing their awaited success."

The team is slated to take the floor nine times this season before heading to Anaheim, Calif. for the USA Collegiate Championships on Feb. 17 and 18, 2024.
