Shreveport - The Centenary Competitive Cheer team had a great showing in the World Spirit Association VIP Shreveport Event on Saturday, its final competition of the regular season, at the Shreveport Convention Center.

Centenary will now be off for two weeks in preparation for the USA Collegiate Championships on Feb. 17 and 18 in Anaheim, Calif.

The team put out both their traditional and game day routines. Both routines hit zero and receive excellent scoring from the judges.

In their traditional routine, the team received notable scores in their Tumbling and jump technique, cheer words, voice and volume, motions and skills, props and visuals, representation, and overall impression.

For the game day routine, the team earned high scores in tumbling, fight song, and jump technique. As well as motion technique, perfection, composition and flow, overall impression, and overall perfection.

"I'm very proud of the two solid performances this team put out today," said Centenary head coach Kaylee King. It was a great way to end the regular season. They hit both routines with no major issues and are on a positive trajectory to really score well when it counts the most. They were fun to watch and really had the crowd engaged and yelling along. It was so fun to watch!"
