Gents Tied For 10th After First Round Of The Visit Florence/Shoals Intercollegiate

Muscle Shoals, Ala. – The Centenary men's golf team finished day one of The Visit Florence/Shoals Intercollegiate in a tie for 10th place after shooting a 41-over par 329 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail "Fighting Joe" Course.

The Gents are tied with Centre College's "B" Team. Carnegie Mellon University is the overall leader at 3-under 285 and was the only team to finish under par. Methodist University is second at 1-over par 289 and Bethel University (MN) is third at 11-over 299. Emory University, the tournament host, is in fourth place at 13-over 301.

The Gents are joined by nine other schools this week and are being tested by the par-72, 7,165-yard course. Round two is scheduled for Monday with 18 holes and the final round is set for Tuesday.

Freshman Aubrey Snell (Shreveport, La.) shot the Gents' lowest round of the day as he shot a 4-over par 76 and is tied for 17th place. Senior Andrew Bennett (Bossier City, La.) shot a 5-over 77 and is tied for 22nd, sophomore Jeffrey Borchert (Katy, Texas) is tied for 50th place at 12-over par 84, senior Devan Martin (Watson, La.) is in 59th place after a 20-over par 92 and junior Tyler Jones (Stonewall, La.) shot a 29-over par 101 and is in 61st place.
