Bennett Earns Third-Career Victory And Leads Gents To Strong Finish At Crusader Cup
Senior Andrew Bennett (Bossier City, La.) continued to enhance his impressive resume as he claimed his third-career victory after firing a 2-under par 142 to claim the individual title on Tuesday in the Crusader Cup hosted by the University of Dallas at Hawk's Creek Golf Club.

Bennett helped lead the Gents to a third-place tie with the University of St. Thomas at 27-over par 603 as the Maroon and White shot seven strokes lower (10-over par 298) on Tuesday after posting a 17-over par 305 on Monday in round one. Bennett finished three shots ahead of runner-up Kaden English of Concordia University (even-par 144) as they were the only two golfers to finish at or under par this week.
Texas Lutheran University claimed the team title as the Bulldogs finished at 17-over par 593, seven shots better than second-place Concordia (23-over 600). Lyon College finished fifth at 38-over par 614, Schreiner University was sixth at 43-over 619, the host Crusaders' "A" team finished seventh (47-over 623), the Dallas "B" squad was eighth at 70-over 646, and Howard Payne University finished ninth at 74-over 650. TLU and St. Thomas were tied for the team lead after Monday's play, three shots ahead of Lyon. The field was tested this week at the par 72, 6,712-yard course.
Sophomore Aubrey Snell (Shreveport, La.) climbed up the leaderboard on Tuesday as she shot a 2-under par 70 to earn a fifth-place finish at 4-over par 148. Snell shot a 6-over par 78 in round one and was tied for 25th. Antonio Ramirez of UST, the individual leader after Monday's first round, finished third at 1-over par 145 after rounds of 69 and 76.
Freshman Ryder Briggs (Blanchard, La.) finished 23rd at 12-over par 156 as he rebounded from a first-round 81 (+9) with a three-over 75 on Tuesday. Junior Jeffrey Borchert (Katy, Texas) finished 24th at 13-over 157 (75-82) and senior Tyler Jones (Stonewall, La.) tied for 47th place at 24-over 168 (83-85).
Bennett now owns a trio of career wins, nine top-five finishes, and 12 top-10 finishes as he continues to add to his legacy as the top golfer in the division III era of the program. Bennett, the 2024 SCAC Individual Champion and Men's Golfer of the Year, has tied for sixth, tied for second, and finished first in three tournaments this Fall.
