Men's Volleyball Drops Five-Set Match at Louisiana Tech

Shreveport – The Centenary Men's Competitive Club Volleyball team fell to Louisiana Tech on Wednesday in a five-set match in Ruston.

The Gents (0-2) fell to the Bulldogs in five sets for the second week in a row after losing in their season opener on Jan. 13 at the Gold Dome. Tech opened the match by taking the first set, 25-21 and then the Gents tied the match by winning the second set, 25-22. The Bulldogs won the third set, 25-23, and then Centenary claimed set four, 25-23. The Bulldogs then clinched in the fifth and decisive set, 15-11.

Junior outside hitter Ezri Gomez (Chihuahua, Mexico) led the Gents with 31 total attacks and 12 digs. He had a team-high five aces and added six kills. Gomez also had three block assists and two solo blocks. Junior middle blocker Divine Martin (Houma, La.) recorded 21 total attacks, 10 digs, and five solo blocks. He also had three kills, two aces, and two block assists.

Senior Jayman Reed (Dallas, Texas) had 20 total attacks, a team-high 10 kills, 11 digs, and led the Gents with seven solo blocks and give block assists. Freshman Jaspen Charles (Breaux Bridge, La.) totaled 12 total attacks, six kills, and two block assists. Junior Captain Daniel Hernandez (Irving, Texas) had seven digs, an ace, and a block assist. Junior libero Colin Schultz (Denham Springs, La.) had 10 digs and one total attack.

The Bulldogs and Gents will face off again in Shreveport on March 10 and March 16 in Ruston.
