Women's Tennis Drops Home Match To Howard Payne

Shreveport – The Centenary tennis teams fell to Howard Payne in a non-conference match on Saturday at the Centenary Tennis Courts as the Ladies suffered a 9-0 loss while the Gents dropped an 8-1 decision.

The Ladies lost all three doubles matches due to forfeit and Brittany Sutton beat Centenary freshman Susi Wilson (St. Louis, Mo.) in singles, 6-5 and then Wilson fell, 10-4, in another singles match to Howard Payne's Jessenia Ureste.

On the men's side, junior Nathan Lim (Shreveport) picked up the lone victory for the Maroon and White as he beat Micah Hunter in straight sets, 6-0 and 7-5 in the No. 2 singles match. Junior Corey Nobles (Beaumont, Texas) and Lim lost to HP's Ben Blanchard and Jonathan Villareal, 8-5 in the No. 1 doubles match.

Centenary senior Max Wamsley (Vicksburg, Miss.) and freshmen Colin Dixon (Keller, Texas) lost their doubles match to Hunter Green and Micah Hunter and sophomore Divine Martin (Houma, La.) and freshman Nolan Tomasek lost to Albert Hernandez and Peyton Jost, 8-0.

Nobles lost his singles match to Ben Blanchard, 6-2/6-0 and Wamsley dropped a pair of 6-1 decisions to Albert Hernandez. Martin lost 6-0/6-0 to Jonathan Villareal and Jost took care of Tomasek, 6-0 and 6-2. Dixon lost the Gents' toughest singles match to Hunter Green in three sets by scores of 4-6/6-3/10-8.

The Ladies and Gents will return to action in two weeks as they welcome Belhaven to town for a non-conference dual match set for 10 a.m. #GoCentenary #CTheOpportunity
