Mayo Field Playing Surface to be Dedicated Friday

Shreveport, La. - The new playing surface at Mayo Field, installed prior to the 2019 soccer season, will be officially dedicated on Friday, Sept. 27 prior to Centenary soccer's doubleheader against Austin College. 

The celebration begins at 4:30 p.m. with a welcome and remarks by Centenary president Dr. Chris Holoman followed by the playing of the national anthem at approximately 4:50 p.m. 

A pregame tailgate party, sponsored by SGA, will begin at 5 p.m. and at that same time the Ladies face the 'Roos before the Gents follow at 7 p.m. "Up with People" will perform at halftime of the men's match. 

Up with People is a travel-based educational organization whose mission is to inspire young people to make a difference in their world. UWP works to break down cultural barriers and create global understanding through travel, experiential learning, performing arts, and volunteer service. 

The Ladies, off to a perfect 5-0 start this season, have outscored the opposition 15-6 so far and sits at 5-0 for the second-consecutive season. The Gents are 1-2 and have scored five goals in their last two matches and are 1-0 so far at home. Centenary plays host to Hendrix on Tuesday in a non-conference doubleheader at 5 and 7 p.m. as the teams begin a long homestand that stretches into early October (four straight matches for Ladies and five for the Gents).
