Baton Rouge - The Centenary Competitive Cheer team will compete in the Star Spirit Productions - Southern Bid Bash on Saturday and Sunday at the Celtic Media Center.
Southern Bid Bash is a two-day competition where the first and second-day scores are added together to determine final awards on Sunday. This means the competitive team will take the mat a total of four times over the weekend; twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday.
For their first performance, a selected small group of the team will take the floor in the small co-ed intermediate division where the team will perform a traditional two and half minute routine or "big routine" as the team calls it, comprised of both cheer and music sections. This specific routine has yet to see the floor this competitive season but will be featured as a part of their national competition in February.
The second performance will be their game day routine where all members of the team and Skeeter will take the floor to perform their band chant, situational/sideline, and fight song in a combined game day performance. While this routine has taken the stage previously and earned the team a program high score, several additions have been made to the current material.
"I look forward to seeing the team take the stage this weekend," said head coach Kaylee King. With all team members returning for the spring semester, we have been able to re-choreograph and make several additions to our routines that I think will really help elevate our material."
"This is a great opportunity for them to take the stage in a back-to-back setting that is similar to how the competition will be set up at nationals in Anaheim (California) in just under a month. I'm eagerly anticipating the scores from this weekend and to be able to build upon them once again before we head to the big stage soon."
The team is slated to take the floor at 12:52 PM and 2:10 PM on Saturday and then they will return to the stage on Sunday at 10:06 AM and 11:31 AM with awards at Noon.
