Freshman leads Gents Golf to Ninth at Henderson State Invite

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Three Gents finished in the top-50 in a competitive field featuring numerous NCAA Division II teams as Centenary finished ninth of 12 teams at the par-72, 6,713 yard Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, Arkansas, October 2-3.

The Gents finished the three-round tournament with a 947 total (+83), ahead of Williams Baptist, Mineral Area College, and Crowley Ridge College. Delta State won the tournament with an 884 (+20), four strokes ahead of host Henderson State and nine ahead of Arkansas Tech.

"Another tournament with a strong final round, but the slow starts keep us playing catch-up," said head coach Emlyn Aubrey. "When we put all of this individual success together as a team, we can beat anyone."

Freshman Austin Craig shot 78-76-76 (230, +14) to finish in a tie for 25th. Sophomore Brodey Warner fired the third-lowest total of the final round with an even-par 72. Warner carded 83 (+11) in both rounds Monday to finish the tournament with a 238 (+22) and tied for 44th.

"Warner shot his college career low score, so that makes three of our starters with career lows in the first two tournaments of the season," added Aubrey.

Sophomore Reed Balcerowicz finished tied for 46th, improving each round with rounds of 83-80-76 (239, +23). Freshman Harrison John shot 78-82-82 to record a 242 (+26) to come in 53rd.

Junior Edvard Granrud rounded out the Gents contingent by finishing 62nd with rounds of 81-85-87 (253, +37)

Centenary finishes off the fall schedule October 30-31 at the Texas A&M Commerce Classic at Firewheel in Garland, Texas.
