Gents Set For Home Matchup Against Hendrix

Shreveport – The Centenary lacrosse team will face the Hendrix College Warriors on Wednesday evening in a non-conference contest set for 6 p.m. at Mayo Field.

The Gents (1-4) are coming off an impressive 16-2 win over the Spalding University Golden Eagles on March 3 in Louisville, Ky. Centenary was supposed to face Mount. St. Joseph University on Monday but the game was cancelled so the Gents will return to action on Wednesday after 10 days. Hendrix (3-2) has won three games in a row and is 2-0 on the road this season.

Centenary has scored 42 goals and has 25 assists and the 16 goals that the Maroon and White scored in the win at Spalding is the most in a single game since scoring 16 at Mount. St. Joseph last season.

Spivey scored a game-high five goals and has tallied eight in his last two games after recording a hat trick against Hanover College on March 1. Spivey has scored a team-high 14 goals this season with 13 coming in the last three games.

Senior M Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) scored four, freshman M Ethan Hewett (Bossier City, La.) scored three, and senior A/MF Mark Temple (Houston, Texas) added two.

Ogier had five assists and Cook and Spivey each had two. Davillier had a game-high eight ground balls and Temple and Ossman each had five. Junior D Kaleb Coates (Shreveport, La.) and senior LSM Ben Vazquez (San Antonio, Texas) each had three ground balls and six players picked up two ground balls each. Centenary finished with 16 caused turnovers as Ossman led the way with four and three players had two each. The Gents took 47 shots while the Golden Eagles took 35.

Miller started in goal for Centenary and recorded a season-high 18 saves as he has started three games this season and recorded a team-high 43 saves. Freshman Thomas Jordan (Dallas, Texas) has made two starts and has 24 saves.

Cook and Temple are tied for second on the team in goals with nine and Hewett has scored seven. Cook and Hewett are tied for second on the team in assists with four each, Spivey has three, and Temple two.

Centenary remains at home on Saturday to face the Point University Skyhawks at Noon. The Gents will honor their 2024 senior class on Saturday.
