Women's Swimming Places Fourth In 52nd Annual Hendrix College Classic

Conway, Ark. – The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams finished sixth and fourth respectively in the 52nd Annual Hendrix College Classic last Saturday at the Bob Courtway Pool.

Sophomore Richard LaFleur (Lafayette, La.) had the best finish for Centenary in the meet on Saturday, placing third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:15.81. He was also eight in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.50.

The Gents also finished sixth the day before in the 57th Annual Hendrix Relays while the Ladies placed fourth. The Maroon and White recorded three third-place finishes on Friday highlighted by a time of 3:12.04 in the 300 breast by the trip of LaFleur, Mitchell Lulich (New Orleans), and Tripp Montgomery (New Iberia, La.).

The Ladies boasted five second-place finishes in relay action on Friday, including the meet-ending 400 free relay team of sophomore Brianna Serret (Alexandria, La.), senior Ellen Atkinson (Katy, Texas), junior Sarah Harrison (Alexandria, La.), and sophomore Madelyn Frederick (Slidell, La.) who finished in a time of 4:02.83.

Serret had a pair of third-place finishes on Saturday, in the 200 fly (2:18.76) and the 200 back (2:15.07). Three Ladies placed in the top five in the 200 breast, as the trio of Kaylin Swoboda (New Orleans) swam the event in a time of 2:34.96 to place third, Harrison (2:37.37 placed fourth, and senior Jessi Jordan (Dallas, Texas) finished fifth with a time of 2:38.61.

Centenary opened its 2019-20 season last month with a sweep of Millsaps in a dual meet on the road. The women won, 94-70 and the men won by a count of 61-47.

Centenary opens its home schedule on Friday, Nov. 8 with a dual match against that same Millsaps squad in a meet set for 5 p.m. The Maroon and White will then host the annual Alumni/Intrasquad Meet on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. #GoCentenary #CTheOpportunity
